Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon SuperS Gaiden: Ami-chan no Hatsukoi

Quiet bookworm of the Sailor Senshi Ami takes pride in her studies, but a rival naming himself "Mercurius" is suddenly outscoring her on the national exams. Combine this with a sudden love letter and a youma feeding on Ami's stress over the whole situation, and Sailor Mercury finds herself in a huge pinch.

Bonnon is the villian in the SuperS Special Ami-chan no Hatsukoi (Ami's First Love).  During the special, Ami is feverishly studying for high school entrance exams, competing with a mysterious rival named Mercurius, who matches her perfect scores on every test. Ami works so hard that she begins severely lacking sleep. At her prep school one day, she accidentally sleeps through the entire class. When she awakens, it is dark out. Through the window, we see our first glimpse of Bonnon - a mysterious glowing red face which quickly disappears in a lilac mist. Ami leaves her class, quite disoriented. Meanwhile, the lilac mist materializes into Bonnon, who believes that Ami is in love because she is only thinking about a man - her rival. As a spirit, she plans to feed off of Ami's passions. She envelops the girl in her skirts, and Ami begins feeling sick on her way home. At home, Ami lies in the bed, ill, and troubled by thoughts that Mercurius is causing her harm. Because she is only thinking of Mercurius, Bonnon sees her opportunity to attack. She uses her "Love Letter Attack" against Ami. Suddenly, bubbles form over the girl's head, filled with all of the information she has learned and memorized. They begin to pop, causing her to forget everything. Meanwhile, Usagi, Mamoru, and ChibiUsa arrive at Ami's apartment. Inside, Ami is still having all of her knowledge sucked away by Bonnon. Usagi runs in to help her friend, but the floor has disappeared, leaving Usagi clinging to the door frame in desparation. ChibiUsa demands to know the villain's identity, but before she can introduce herself, the delirious Ami states that she is Mercurius, trying to defeat her. Bonnon tries to interhect with her true identity, but Ami won't allow it. She quickly transforms into Sailor Mercury and destroys the evil spirit with "Mercury Aqua Mirage." Minako is the fourth member of the Sailor Team to be discovered by Sailor Moon, and serves as the leader of the Guardian Senshi who protect her. She uses love-related powers. In the manga and anime series she dreams of becoming a famous idol, whereas in the live-action series her character is refactored to already be a celebrity.  Silly or serious, Minako consistently displays great confidence, enthusiasm, and leadership skill. She is the "owner" of Artemis, the white guardian cat who introduced her to her life as a Senshi. He lives in her home (as Luna lives in Usagi's) and is one of her closest friends.

Minako Aino

Artemis is the companion to the leader of the Guardian Senshi—he trained Minako Aino as Sailor V, and remains by her side when she takes on her proper role as Sailor Venus. His memory of the Silver Millennium seems to be more intact than Luna's—in fact, before appearing in the Sailor Moon series he guides her through the Sailor V video game at the arcade. Later, he fills in the details of her true mission.  Artemis is more easy going than Luna, and has a "big brother" relationship with Minako, although his attraction to her is sometimes implied. He also cares very deeply about Luna, often comforting her when she is distressed and stating his admiration of her. In addition, he is a good father to Diana as evidenced by her affection for him.  Artemis has green eyes in the manga and live-action series, but blue eyes in the anime.  Artemis does not seem to mind the fact that he is named after a female goddess, even when teased about it by Minako.  In the European Portuguese and the Hungarian version Artemis is a female cat. He is often portrayed as stoic, steady and introverted. This may be because when he was young his parents died in a car crash. This blocked his childhood memories of his current lifetime and opened up the memories of his previous life as Prince Endymion. Tuxedo Mask is a disguise Mamoru created for himself in order to hunt for the Silver Crystal incognito and, later, assist the Sailor Senshi in battle.  He is always addressed as Mamo-chan by Usagi throughout the series (Chibiusa also addresses him with this nickname later on). After dating for two years, Mamoru gives Usagi an engagement ring at an airport. The couple eventually gets married. In the future, they become king and queen of Earth and Crystal Tokyo and have a child together whom they name, Small Lady, but is in the majority of the series known as Chibiusa.  The manga develops Mamoru more extensively, showing that the car crash happened on his birthday and gives a glimpse of his parents. He also is given the power of psychometry, which also showed up in the anime, but was not given a name. This manifests in his ability to see and read dreams (such as Chibiusa's), heal people and monitor the status of the Earth. The anime tends not to develop Mamoru as much, however, he is shown to be more social than his manga counterpart. He's interested in a variety of subjects and is shown as smart.  Mamoru also has his left ear pierced in the manga, a trait that does not carry over to his anime counterpart.

SuperS centers heavily on Chibi-usa and the Sailor Team. A new enemy, the Dead Moon Circus, has now appeared. Their motive is to find the Golden Dream Mirror that would be used to rule the world. To do this, the enemy attacks innocent victims for their Dream Mirrors and test their energy. Chibi-usa also has a new ally on her side, Pegasus. This season also sees the Sailor Senshi obtaining new powers.
