Assassin

Height: 184 cm  Weight: 85 kg Master: Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi True Identity: His true identity is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, the son of Donn, foster son of Aengus Óg and a warrior of the Fianna. Known as Diarmuid of the Love Spot, the appellation resulted from an encounter with Gráinne, a woman who caused a magical love spot to appear on his head. Any woman who looked upon his face would instantly fall in love with him.  Lancer is the Servant of Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi during the 4th Holy Grail War. Lancer is generally even-tempered, and absolutely loyal to his Master. He is known for his chivalry and sense of honor, in contrast to the arrogant personality of Kayneth. He shares a bond of mutual respect with rival Servant Saber, his greatest wish being to face her in fair combat.  Lancer is summoned by Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi in the 4th Holy Grail War, who originally intended to summon Rider-class Servant, Iskander. Because his pupil Waver Velvet stole the artifact he had meant to use as a catalyst, Kayneth summoned Diarmuid Ua Duibhne in Iskander's stead. Loyal, independent, and reserved, Saber acts coldly but is actually suppressing her emotions to focus on her goals. Her class is considered the "Most Outstanding," with excellent ratings in all categories. Since her Master cannot effectively provide her with mana, she minimizes her activity to preserve what she has. Saber is frustrated by Shirou's "protective" tendencies, believing his erratic and reckless behavior will jeopardize her chances of winning the Holy Grail War.  Saber is a strong-willed young woman who always speaks resolutely. She is courageous, determined, and set on winning the Holy Grail. She constantly insists that she is a knight first and that her gender is of little importance to her. She is resolute in following her own morals regardless of more viable tactics being available should she consider them to be underhanded, leading to conflicts with Kiritsugu over the strategy within the Fourth Holy Grail War. While obtaining the Holy Grail is of the utmost importance, rejecting her chivalry is something that she will not do under normal circumstance even if it should put her at a disadvantage.  She doesn't like to be treated as a woman, or even as a human, due to her status as a knight and a Servant. She tries to keep the notion that she is only a Servant, a tool for her Master, first and foremost in her mind, so she initially has no objections about Shirou accidentally seeing her naked body. She slowly becomes more aware of herself after their relationship develops, and eventually even becomes flustered upon the same situation being repeated. She is unwilling to show emotions, as she has suppressed them so strongly and views herself as a knight foremost. Even though she attempts to hide them, her insecurities become more and more apparent, and she later begins to open up more and show her emotions more easily, especially to Shirou.  Though she once felt more linked to dragons, she came to enjoy lions after taking care of a lion cub for a month at some point in her life. She claims that it is not that she "likes" them, but rather the happiness she experienced as he became attached to her brought forth a bond with them. He was very energetic, often biting or scratching, but she wished to be able to stay with him until the end. She has had feelings for them since then, and even remembers the fond memories while holding a stuffed lion. Shirou seeing the memory of her rubbing her cheek against the lion comments on it being a time where she looks like a girl her age.  She is shown to have a humongous appetite, finishing large servings of rice within one minute. Although she can normally eat anything, Shirou's food education is what awoke her gourmet spirit. She originally did not appreciate modern food as she doesn't actually need to eat as a Servant and because she had believed that all food was like fish and chips. She had very bad experiences with the food in her time, due being limited to meals like large quantities of potatoes, vinegar, bread, and ale or even at times simply eating vegetables alone.  She did not concern herself with food much in her life, allowing the cooks to do as they wished. She felt it was unrefined, although she was not displeased by it. She does shudder at the thought of eating it compared to Shirou's cooking. She thought it had been made to suit the tastes of the knights because they acknowledged it as tasting good, but they simply were unable to say it was bad to the King's face.  She is very cold and merciless to Illya during most of Fate/stay night despite her being Irisviel's daughter. This is due to the fact that she never asked Irisviel about the name of her daughter, and when Saber sees Illya during the war, she completely disregards the possibility that it could be the same child. She believes that Illya is too young to be the girl she saw getting a piggy-back ride ten years before, and she believes that she would have become more mature like her mother by the time of the Fifth Holy Grail War. She reasons that Illya is a new homunculus completely unrelated to Irisviel with similarities in her appearance due to the Einzbern homunculi looking alike after their creation. Given a chance to casually interact with her, while she doesn't trust Illya at first, she is eventually able to act nicely around her. She is able to freely have fun around her without any worries. Fate/Zero Saber is summoned by Kiritsugu Emiya to participate in the Fourth Holy Grail War on behalf of Jubstacheit von Einzbern and the Einzbern family. Kiritsugu partners Saber with Irisviel von Einzbern, to act as Saber's Master in the open while he acts from behind to win with his own methods. On the final day of the Holy Grail war, Saber found the Holy Grail but she also meets Gilgamesh who was waiting for her. He proposes that she becomes his wife while she lays defeated in front of him. Saber refuses as the Holy Grail is just in front of her. Saber destroyed the Holy Grail in the fourth Holy Grail War because Kiritsugu used multiple command seals in order to force her to act against her will. However, she only managed to destroy the Grail's physical form. She was also caught in her own Excalibur blast, sending her back to the battlefield of Camlann. She was the sixth and final servant to perish in the fourth Holy Grail War. Her true identity is that of King Arthur aka. Arthur Pendragon (Uther's daughter who hid her gender to be accepted as King). She has joined the Holy Grail War in order to grant her wish of redoing the selection of King due to her belief that she failed to keep her country from chaos. She wields the legendary holy sword Excalibur (cloaked in a veil of wind to hide its popular identity and thus its owner's) but no longer carries its lost sheath Avalon. Saber

Birthday: January 31  Height: 174 cm  Weight: 65 kg  Blood type: B  The master of Caster, Ryuunosuke is a serial killer who summons Caster after murdering a family and using their blood as a component in the summoning ritual. Though he is not a magus, he was selected by the Holy Grail to fulfill the war's requirement of seven Masters and seven Servants. Ryuunosuke knows nothing about magic or the fourth Holy Grail War; his involvement in the war is simply to watch Caster kill people in unique and thrilling ways to relieve boredom. Ryuunosuke Uryuu

Birthday: October 3 Height: 157 cm Weight: 50 kg Blood type: B  Waver Velvet is a nineteen year old student at Clock Tower, an institute of the Magus Association, and mage with a recognized magical lineage of three generations. While he is talented, he is not recognized by his peers or lecturers.  An intelligent young man, Waver came up with the revolutionary concept that a mage's power could be increased through effort, experience, and knowledge rather than increasing magical potential through that of a mage's heirs. His idea is dismissed by his lecturer, the nobleman Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi, who tears up Waver's manuscript without another thought.  When Waver discovers that El-Melloi will participate in the fourth Holy Grail War in Japan, Waver steals the artifact El-Melloi intends to use to summon his Servant and runs off to Japan. Intending to win the Holy Grail in order to force the Magus Association to recognize his genius, he takes the stolen artifact and summons Rider-class Servant, Iskander.  After the Grail War, Waver decides to continue living with the Mackenzies for a while in order to save up money to travel around the world. He also takes with him, among the many items accumulated by Iskander bought during their time together, the video games that the Servant bought but never had a chance to play. Waver Velvet

Height: 196 cm  Weight: 70 kg  He is the Servant of Ryuunosuke Uryuu during the 4th Holy Grail War. Caster derives pleasure from first providing his victims with a moment of relief and hope, before killing them in a variety of horrific manners.  Caster was summoned shortly before the Fourth Holy Grail War began. His Master was Ryuunosuke Uryuu, a serial killer who unwittingly performed a successful summoning ritual using the blood of a murdered family. Like his Master, he is almost devoid of any morality, and has no interest in obtaining the Holy Grail. He enjoys offering his victims brief moments of respite, or even the hope of release or escape, before inflicting death through gruesome and horrific means. According to Caster, allowing his victims hope will amplify the despair and terror upon their moment of death, a fact that he revels in. He also uses his magic to warp and twist humans into contraptions for his Master's entertainment, such as turning a girl into a pipe organ.  His true identity is Gille de Rais, a French nobleman who was once a comrade-in-arms of Jeanne of Arc. Caster

Birthday: April 11  Height: 181 cm  Weight: 62 kg  Blood type: B  A nobleman and a renowned mage from the Magus Association, Kayneth was a prodigy among magi, possessing exceptional magical potential and skills. He held the title of Euryphis lecturer within the Clock Tower, a notable mage academy, despite his young age. His magical lineage, going back nine generations, further enhanced his status. His magical abilities were attributed to wind and water, and he is proficient in the magical arts of summoning, alchemy, and spiritual evocation. He is also a teacher of Waver Velvet's, and was responsible for rejecting and tearing up Waver's radical thesis concerning magical potential. This act was in turn directly responsible for driving Waver to, in retaliation, enter the fourth Holy Grail War by stealing a valuable artifact from Kayneth.   Lord El-Melloi is, with regard to magical ability, arguably the most skilled Master in the Fourth Holy Grail War. He excels in magic involving mercury, which he employs to create a variety of attack and defence forms, such as barriers strong enough to resist point blank Claymore Mine blasts and flying blades capable of slicing through stone walls. Lord El-Melloi's mastery is great enough such that his enchanted mercury can react without his conscious control, automatically forming shields against surprise attacks. Kiritsugu Emiya initially regards Kayneth as one of the two most threatening magi involved in the war alongside Tokiomi TÅ�saka, though neither are considered the most dangerous to be involved.   He's engaged to Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri, the daughter of the head of the spiritual evocation division, through an arranged marriage. While Kayneth is in love with her, Sola-Ui despises Kayneth, considering him a coward for not attacking opposing Masters face to face.   Kayneth is the Master of Lancer in the Fourth Holy Grail War. His participation in the War is merely a bid to increase his own prominence within the Magus Association. His initial base of operations was located at the Fuyuki Hyatt Hotel, and protected by twenty-four layers of barriers, numerous summoned monsters, various traps, and mystical spatial alterations in the lobby. Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald

An arrogant, selfish, and enigmatic Archer-class Servant. He appears familiar with Fuyuki City and claims to have a past relationship with Saber. Typically clad in an ornate golden armor, he possesses an immense number of Noble Phantasms, though none are representative of his true identity.  Gilgamesh is the great half-god, half-human king born from the union between the King of Uruk, Lugalbanda, and goddess Rimat-Ninsun. He ruled the Sumerian city-state of Uruk, the capital city of ancient Mesopotamia in the B.C. era. He was an ultimate, transcendent being so divine as to be two thirds god and one third human, and no others in the world could match him. He was a despot possessing high divinity who believed he was invincible. He is not merely a legend, and is said to have actually existed and ruled during the Sumer Dynasty five thousand years ago. He was the King of Heroes who possessed all things in the world, whose tale is recorded in mankind's oldest epic poem, the Epic of Gilgamesh which portrays Gilgamesh as a hero, destined to be king and achieve great feats, who is driven to meet his destiny, facing challenges together with his best friend Enkidu.  His title, King of Heroes, is not meant to call him a king who is a hero, but instead implies that he is the king over all heroes. He is mankind's oldest hero, the origin of all myths and model on which heroes are based, so his story is copied within the mythologies of all the countries of the world. The heroes of various myths are derived from his legend, so his Gate of Babylon possesses all of their Noble Phantasms. Though there are several heroes holding the title of "King," the King of Knights and King of Conquerors, he is the only one in all of heaven and earth crowned with the title of "King of All Heroes."  Gilgamesh was initially summoned by Tokiomi Toosaka in the Fourth Holy Grail War, who used a fossil of the first skin ever shed by a snake as a catalyst. With Toosaka's death, Gilgamesh participated with Kirei Kotomine to obtain the Holy Grail, intending to cleanse the world of humanity, which he felt had become corrupted and vile, thus not worth of his reign. When Kiritsugu Emiya killed his Master, Gilgamesh remained in the physical world long enough to be drenched by the pollution within the tainted Holy Grail. Contact with this ichor normally corrupts a Servant's ego, but Gilgamesh resisted submission to the evil influence. However, the saturation converted his spiritual body to one of flesh and blood, and Gilgamesh also become more eccentric and excitable.  Noble Phantasms: Gate of Babylon - A small, plain sword that doubles as spatial key, allowing Gilgamesh to access his vast wealth contained within a vault in the heart of ancient Babylon. Inside this treasury are a myriad of Noble Phantasms collected during the peak of Uruk's civilization. Gilgamesh either throws these weapons or fires them out of his vault like rockets.  In several instances, Gilgamesh has removed and normally wielded weapons. It is the hurling of these weapons that designate his class as an Archer. Several Noble Phantasms are of paramount importance:  Merodach - A relatively unadorned but lustrous Noble Phantasm of immense magical power. Although not famous at all when compared to either of its descendants, the strength of Merodach as a Noble Phantasm exceeds either Gram or Caliburn.  Durendal - This gleaming, holy sword is enchanted by three miracles, allowing its blade to never dull even when its user's Mana has been expended. Old legends call Durendal indestructible.  Enkidu - One of the few relics Gilgamesh actually used during his lifetime, this chain was forged specifically to immobilize gods, albeit significantly less effective against opponents with little or no divinity.  Ea (Enuma Elish) - A black, pillar-shaped sword, etched with fine crimson cuneiform letters. With an energy output that exceeds Excalibur, rotation of Ea's tri-blade segments vacuums and compresses surrounding atmospheric gasses. Upon release, the ensuing cataclysmic blast sunders the foundations of reality, causing a collapse of time and space that disintegrates everything around the area of attack. Ea's material components have no origins in the mortal plane; unlike other weapons, it cannot be replicated through tracing. It is the most powerful Noble Phantasm in Gilgamesh's arsenal.  Vimana - mythical self-moving aerial car (sometimes serving as a seat or throne, sometimes self-moving and carrying its occupant through the air; other descriptions make the Vimana more like a house or palace, and one kind is said to be seven stories high.

With the promise of granting any wish, the omnipotent Holy Grail triggered three wars in the past, each too cruel and fierce to leave a victor. In spite of that, the wealthy Einzbern family is confident that the Fourth Holy Grail War will be different; namely, with a vessel of the Holy Grail now in their grasp. Solely for this reason, the much hated "Magus Killer" Kiritsugu Emiya is hired by the Einzberns, with marriage to their only daughter Irisviel as binding contract.
Kiritsugu now stands at the center of a cutthroat game of survival, facing off against six other participants, each armed with an ancient familiar, and fueled by unique desires and ideals.
