Student Number: 1  The helpless and meek ghost of a former student, Sayo Aisaka has low self-esteem and is not skilled at being a ghost, tripping even though she doesn't have feet and being completely unable to scare people, more often frightening herself than others.  She is invisible to almost everyone, and her presence goes mostly unnoticed though Takahata had her included in the class registry, with a note to Negi not to change her seating.  Sayo has been friendless and lonely for around 60 years since her death, which made her very desperate for a friend, and later attempts to talk to the rest of the class during the preparations for the School Festival.  (Source: Wikipedia)  The school dean once comments about a girl who died around the time Sayo did, as the girl who was his first love. It is assumed that he is referring to Sayo.  Manga version: Sayo attempts to show herself to the class during the Mahora school festival in order to make a friend, but the class interprets her clumsy communications as the work of a poltergeist, and tries to exorcise her. After Negi and Asakura calms everyone down, they're able to accept Sayo as part of the class. Afterwords, Sayo can always be seen by Asakura's side, as a sort of side-kick, although only Asakura and those with magic are able to see her at first. She eventually receives a palm-sized magic straw doll from Evangeline that allows her to move around with a somewhat physical body as well as allowing her to leave the school grounds.

Sayo Aisaka

Seat Number: 3 Birthdate: January 10, 1989 Blood Type: O Hair: red Eyes: greenish blue Zodiac: Capricorn Likes: big scoops, stories about relationships, cameras Hates: villains Clubs: News club reporter for the "Mahora News" Notes: Her amazing ability to gather news is due to her database of people on 3-A. Excels at studies, and has the 4th largest bust in the class.  Kazumi Asakura is student number three in the class and the class reporter who is mostly seen sporting a large grin. She likes to get the inside scoop on everything that goes on, and is part of the Mahora Paparazzi. Her dedication to digging out the "truth" extends to knowingly working with her friends enemies so long as she gets a "scoop." She finds out about the secret of magic while spying on Negi, though she is persuaded to keep it a secret in exchange for a probationary contract. She is close friends with Sayo, the ghost girl, and often has her spy on people in order to obtain a scoop. She later obtains a doll for Sayo to possess, so that she can leave the school grounds. Her pactio, "Oculus Corvinus," creates up to six small golem cameras that she is able to manipulate and send to any part of the world.

Kazumi Asakura

Seat Number: 4 Born on: 16th of November, 1988 Blood Type: AB Hair: Violet Eyes: Violet Likes: Reading Dislikes: Studying at school Clubs: Children's Literature Research Society, Philosophy Research Society, Library Expedition Club  Yue is Nodoka's best friend, and is often seen around both her and Haruna. She's short and at times has a blunt way of speaking to people, but is generally a friendly person. She likes to read but (ironically) doesn't like to study, and is one of the Baka Rangers (a name for the 5 worst students in Negi's class). When she finds out that Negi is a mage she gets excited about learning magic herself.  At first she shows no romantic interest in Negi, but as time goes by she finds herself developing a crush on him. However she doesn't want to hurt Nodoka, so she tries to keep it bottled up as much as she can. She's supportive of Nodoka and wishes her the best of luck when it comes to her and Negi's relationship.  Yue became the 5th person in Negi's class to make a Pactio with him, following Asuna, Nodoka, Setsuna, and Konoka.

Yue Ayase

Seat Number: 12 Born on: 3/16/1989 Blood Type: A Hair: Blonde Eyes: Green Likes: Training, strong men , Nikuman (a type of Chinese bun containing meat) Hates: Chao and the professor's new inventions (this appears to be a reference to a sonic game) Clubs: Chinese Martial Arts Research Society  An energetic, cheerful Chinese girl with very good motor nerves, as well as skilled in Chinese martial arts. Her specialties are Xingyi Quan and Bagua Zhang, though she knows a little Baji Quan and Xinyi Liuhe Zhang as well. Since she won the Mahora Academy Martial Arts Tournament, every morning there's a big crowd challenging her (which she beats them up Akane Tendo style). After the Kyoto trip in volume 6, Negi begins training with her daily, where they share a master-student relationship.  However, much like Asuna and Kaede, Ku Fei's skills as a fighter are far superior to her performance in Negi's class. She is known as Baka Yellow of the Baka Rangers, a title given to the five worst students in Negi's class. (Her bad results mainly stem from her inability to learn Japanese properly, often speaking in broken Japanese.)  According to Ken Akamatsu, if Setsuna, Kaede, Mana and Kuu Fei (i.e. the "members" of the 3A Martial Arts Elite Four) were to fight without holding back, Kuu Fei would be the weakest among the four, though this is only because she uses no magic, but pure martial arts.  In chapter 261, Ku Fei makes a Pactio with Negi, but only on the grounds that he beat her in an arm-wrestling match. At first he has difficulty doing so, but ends up winning in the end. She is the 10th student in Negi's class to form a Pactio with him. Her artifact is an extending pole, much like Son Goku's pole from "Journey to the West," and can also alter it's size and the speed of its extension.

Kuu Fei

Seat Number: 25 Born on: February 2, 1989 Hair: Peach Eyes: Pinkish red Likes: Small, powerful devices (e.g. sub-notepad PCs) Dislikes: Useless people, unexpected events  Clubs: None Notes: Eyesight 1.2, very good with computers  Chisame Hasegawa is student number twenty-five in the class. She is grumpy, unsocial, and views her classmates as idiots and freaks, citing that it is obvious that Chachamaru and Mana don't belong in the school and that 10-year-old Negi teaching the class does not make any sense. However, as much as Chisame avoids any and all attention in the real world, in the privacy of her own room, she takes on the persona of Chiu, a famous Net Idol, devoted to cosplay. Although she is, fitting with her character, rather disturbed by the idea of other students being openly attracted to and/or in love with 10-year-old Negi, she eventually becomes very close with Negi as he convinces her to interact with the real world. After finding out about the existence of magic, she reluctantly becomes part of Negi's group.  Chisame is an extremely skilled with computers, and she is able to hack into large databases with minimal effort. After forming a pactio with Negi, she gains the artifact, Sceptrum Virtuale, a heart-topped staff that allows her to actually enter cyberspace as a physical realm, upon which she can internally hack into systems. She can allow others to enter with her while their bodies stay in the real world. She is assisted by virtual "spirits", Kincha, Hanpe, Konnya, Chikuwafu, Negi, Daiko, and Shirataki, who can communicate with her while she is nearby an electronic device. They can watch out for any viral attacks, and manipulate data, which allows her to increase the ranking of her site. However, her Pactio ability has the drawback of being near-useless when not connected to the internet, and her spirits disappear when her laptop's batteries are exhausted. Chisame Hasegawa

Real/Previous Name: Asuna Vesperina Theotanasia Enteofushia Birthdate: April 21, 1988 Zodiac: Taurus Seat No.: 8 Room No.: 643 Hair: Ginger Eyes: Green and Blue (only blue in SHAFT's Negima!? projects) Blood type: B Three sizes: B83-W57-H84 Favorite things: Takahata-sensei, cool men Dislikes: kids, studying Other facts: Orphaned at a young age, member of the Baka Rangers (Baka Red), has a job as a newspaper delivery girl, has an incredible kick and overall battling abilities  As one of the main characters of the series, Asuna has been known to have quite a short temper and frequently her actions are a bit rash, but at the same time, has some aspects that display her maturity, especially when it comes to doing the right thing. Although at first she really detests Negi, over time she becomes like a big sister role model to him, as she does resemble Negi's cousin, Nekane, in a way. Her background is somewhat of a mystery, since she was orphaned at a young age. Yet, as she learns more about Negi, some things do occur that suggest clues to her past. One of the few students who has an job outside of the school. Although she isn't exactly a bright student, she is shown to have strong fighting skills and is a compassionate person when it comes to people that are important to her  Her real name is Asuna Vesperina Theotanasia Entheofushia, and she is the cousin of Arika Anarchia Entheofushia, making her Negi's aunt. Her magic cancellation abilities were used as a tool to fell the nation of Ostia, which Arika would then take the blame for. While she is listed as being born in 1988, she is implied to be considerable older than this. In Negiho! Mahora Little Girls: Character No. 1: Kagurazaka Asuna A delinquent and a trouble-maker who loves playing pranks. But she also has some surprisingly good points. She loves older men and she fell for Negi-sensei at the first sight. That's why she was causing a ruckus. Her favorites are animal cookies.

Asuna Kagurazaka

Name: Konoka Konoe Birthdate: 3/18/89 Zodiac Sign: Pisces Seat No.: 13 Room No.: 643  Hair: Dark brown Eyes: Brown Blood type: AB Three Sizes: 29-21-30 Favorite things: Fortune-telling, the supernatural, cooking Dislikes: Nothing in particular Other facts: Granddaughter of the Dean of Mahora Academy. President of the Fortune-Telling Club.  Konoka Konoe is Negima's perfect "wife-to-be", as Negi himself puts it. She is mild-mannered and kind, acting like the perfect counterpart for Asuna. She sometimes has trouble understanding what's going on. Her hometown is in Kyoto, in the Kansai area. She was unaware of her magical powers before the Kyoto arc. She's said to be very powerful. She is currently training her magic under Evangeline and Negi.

Konoka Konoe

McDowell is the 26th student in Japanese alphabetical order of class 2/3-A, she is actually a centuries-old vampire cursed to remain at the school by Nagi Springfield, the father of her teacher Negi Springfield. Initially an antagonist for Negi due to his father's actions, she eventually becomes an important teacher and guide for the young mage and his allies as they fight and search for his missing father. However, Eva remains a cruel, powerful mage in her own right, yet with the sensitivities of her former human life.  UQ HOLDER: She's usually in the adult form thanks to magic pills, and assumed the alias "Yukihime".

Mahou Sensei Negima!

Negi Springfield, a 10-year-old wizard who recently graduated from Merdiana Magic Academy in Wales, hopes to achieve two things—to find his missing father, who was once known as the Thousand Master, and to become a Magister Magi, someone who helps the everyday world through magic. To reach his latter goal, he is assigned one last task: to teach English at a middle school in Japan.

Much to his surprise and dismay, he not only discovers that his homeroom class consists of 31 girls, but also ends up revealing his true identity as a magician to Asuna Kagurazaka, one of his new students. Negi must now negotiate with the girl and face his most difficult challenge yet—to keep his identity a secret as he tackles magical threats both from within and outside of Mahora Academy, all the while keeping a watchful eye out for his lost father.
