Pikachu and the other Pokemon learn to dance!

Meowth is unusual among other Pokémon for its ability to speak like humans. During the earlier episodes of the series, Meowth liked to think he was somewhat in charge of the group, and was responsible for many of its plans and objectives.  Most of Meowth’s background story is explained in the anime episode "Go West, Young Meowth". Meowth came to Hollywood on the back of a truck after seeing a film called "That Darn Meowth" dreaming of good food as seen in the film. He eventually joined a gang of stray Meowth led by a Persian. One day, he fell in love with a female Meowth who let him know that she preferred being with humans to being with a street Pokémon. To impress her, Meowth learned to walk and speak so as to be as much like a human as possible. Afterwards, however, the female Meowth looked down on him even more than before. After Meowth joined Team Rocket, she was abandoned by her owner, and joined the same gang that Meowth left. Ultimately, she fell for the Persian that led the gang.  Meowth is an integral part of the team, counting Jessie and James as his only real friends, but he is often excluded from the rapport between the two. When he lured Pikachu to their side in an episode, he seemed to have his own agenda as to what to do with it. Often, he explains why they should capture the main Pokémon of a particular episode, by indulging in an unrealistic fantasy of Giovanni’s reaction to their success, such as in, "Beg, Burrow, and Steal", when he suggests stealing Trapinch so Giovanni can use him to crack walnuts. It is possible this is an unhealthy coping mechanism, as James comments that these fantasies proved Meowth had "officially lost it".  Meowth is essentially the "brains of the outfit" and appears to come up with the majority of the team’s plans; he seems to share his species’ thematic association with money, often being the one most concerned with practical issues such as the dismal state of the team’s finances. Because of this, Meowth is usually the one who operates Team Rocket’s Pokémon-stealing machinery, working in the background while Jessie and James confront the protagonists. Starting in the Johto season, Meowth learned to pick locks to aid their criminal lifestyle. He is also skilled at piloting the Team Rocket hot-air balloon (and other getaway vehicles). Among other things, he is also able to sing, dance, read, and write - skills that Pokémon rarely possess. Being able to understand what Pokémon as well as humans are saying, Meowth also often translates their speech for Jessie, James and other characters.  Meowth was shown to care greatly for Misty's Togepi when it was an egg. He willingly battles for the right to raise it, and wishes Togepi happiness with its new owner. Later on he was infatuated by May's Skitty, and helped her escape, contrary to Jessie's plans. He has also remarked that if he had met Pikachu under different circumstances, they might have been friends. On occasion, Meowth befriends other Pokémon (usually ones that are outcasts like him) but by the end of the episode he is separated from his new companions. He also seems to have a good relationship with Jessie and James' Pokémon.  In Pokémon Yellow, Meowth is one of the Pokémon that the player must defeat when fighting Jessie and James. This however runs contrary to the anime as he, unlike most Pokémon, is not trained or owned by either Jessie or James and rarely battles.  One of the trophies in Super Smash Bros. Melee is "Team Rocket's Meowth". When viewed, it says that Meowth's dream is to become a rock star. This dream was also shown in one of the Japanese ending songs as well as a special CD released only in Japan. The plot of one Pokémon short revolved around him throwing a concert for his fellow Pokémon.  In Pokémon Channel Team Rocket's Meowth acts like an emcee or newscaster. Nyarth

Pikachu is an Electric Type mouse Pokemon given to Satoshi (Ash in the English version) as a last choice since he was late getting to Professor Oak's lab the day he was to be given his first Pokemon. At first Pikachu avoided Satoshi, shocking him every time he had a chance. He soon warms up to Satoshi after he saves him from wild Spearows. These two soon grow a bond stronger than any others. Pikachu does not like to be kept inside his Pokeball, and is usually seen riding on Satoshi/Ash's shoulder as they travel together.

Pikachu

Kojirou is the male member of Team Rocket, the evil trio that follows Satoshi around to steal his Pokemon.  Several times he's shown to have more of a conscience and the desire to be a good guy: in We're No Angels he seriously wanted the team to remain in a village where they were thought to be heroes. Contrary to Musashi, Kojirou is known to occasionally show morals, integrity and compassion and is shown to be quite kind to his Pokémon. Kojirou has also appeared to be more tactical in battles than his teammate Musashi.  Kojirou has a beloved bottle cap collection and had extremely wealthy parents, who are portrayed in the English dub as Southern aristocrats (despite this, he has no Southern accent). He lived a very spoiled and sheltered life, knowing very little about the world outside his home, but also suffered heavy restrictions and rules. He grew up disliking carnivals due to being driven past them unable to attend, and was left distraught when he was unable to get a Chimecho (a Pokemon he calls his "first love") as a result.   He finally ran away from home after his parents tried to marry him off to a girl named Rumiko, ironically almost identical in appearance to Musashi. His dislike of the many upper-class rules led him to believe that living a life struggling on the streets was better than a life where everything was given, which eventually led him to joining Team Rocket.  Although the team often appears in disguise, a common source of fan humor is Kojirou's habit of cross dressing or wearing women’s clothes (to contrast with Musashi), makeup, and a history with violent, domineering women. It was this that led to the initial banning (the episode has aired after being severely edited) of the episode "Beauty and the Beach", that had Kojirou wearing fake breasts in order to win a bikini competition. In the original Japanese, Kojiro’s effeminate tendencies are played up as a contrast to his smooth, baritone voice; while the English dub originally took this tack, Kojirou's voice has become progressively high-pitched and clownish as time has gone on.  The episode "Holy Matrimony" in which Kojirou returns home has a scene in which he goes to a cellar, only to be met by Rumiko dressed as a dominatrix, much to Kojirou's terror. The cellar is equipped as a full S&amp;M dungeon which Meowth refers to as "weird gym equipment" in the dub.  The episode "That's Just Swellow" revealed that, at some point during his childhood, he was trained to be a Pokeringer champion by a former master, and is still extremely competent at it (reaching the final round in that episode before losing to Satoshi). He also has won a Pokemon Orienteering competition with his Mime Jr.  Kojirou carries a rose wherever he goes, and is occasionally shown holding it when Team Rocket recites the motto, but usually only when they are introduced to somebody new.

Kojirou

Musashi (Jessie) is one of the three members of Team Rocket. Her two other teammates are Kojiro (James) and Meowth.   Jessie made her debut in the anime in Pokémon Emergency. Alongside James and Meowth, they set their sights on the injured Pokémon in the Viridian Pokémon Center. Sending out their Ekans and Koffing from their Meowth balloon, they quickly overtook the Pokémon Center, which only had three people inside. Before they could steal any of the Pokémon, however, Ash's Pikachu, who teamed up with many other Pikachu in the Pokémon Center, used an electric attack, causing the entire Pokémon Center to explode. It was here that Team Rocket decided to capture Pikachu, deeming him as an exceptionally powerful Pokémon, and made it their goal to capture him.   Jessie's mother, Miyamoto, was a high-ranking Team Rocket agent. When Jessie was around the age of five, Miyamoto left on a mission to the Andes to record the voice of the elusive Pokémon Mew. However, after Miyamoto disappeared, Jessie was put into a foster home which had very little money. There were times when she had no choice but to eat snow because of a lack of food.   When she was old enough, she left home to become a Pokémon nurse. However, she was unable to go to a regular nursing school and went to the Pokémon Nurse School, which was intended for Chansey. She was quite skilled at things such as bandaging, and even showed a Chansey how to do it, which she quickly became good friends with. However, because she was not a Chansey, Jessie couldn't do things like use Sing to soothe Pokémon, instead falling asleep herself. Ultimately she failed to graduate, and on graduation day she simply packed a bag and left. As she was leaving, Chansey came up to her and offered her her nurses' hat, but Jessie refused to take it. Chansey then broke her egg-shaped pendant she got as proof of graduating in half and gave one half to Jessie so that they would have something to remember each other by. In the episode Ignorance is Blissey, Jessie was reunited with that same Chansey, which had since evolved into a Blissey.   It is assumed that she then enrolled in Pokémon Tech, a Trainers' school, where she met James, and subsequently failed and dropped out. After this, as revealed in The Bridge Bike Gang, Jessie and James joined a bicycle gang in Sunnytown, where Jessie was known for swinging a chain above her head as she rode her bike, acquiring the nicknames "Big Jess" and "Chainer Jessie".  Sometime before joining Team Rocket, and it is not known when, Jessie obtained a Contest Pass in the Hoenn region. Also during the years before Team Rocket, she had several boyfriends, all of whom left her and/or treated her badly. In Xatu the Future, she revealed that she had once worked at a TV station as the weathergirl. In From Cradle to Save, it was revealed that she once was a ninja.   Due to conflicts in canon between Kanto and Johto episodes and the special episode Training Daze, what happened between Jessie and James after the bike gang is unknown. What is known, as shown in the special episode, is that they joined Team Rocket separately and were on initially unfriendly terms after being grouped with Meowth but they quickly made up and became good friends.   Starting in Hoenn, Jessie became a Pokémon Coordinator, entering every Contest that she could. She frequently made it to the battle round, but usually lost there. However, in Borrowing on Bad Faith!, she finally succeeded in winning an (unofficial) Contest by using Ash's Aipom, which she had saved earlier in the episode. And, in Team Shocker!, she won an official Contest with her Dustox at Solaceon Town. Later in Shield with a Twist!, she won a Ribbon with help of her Yanmega. She has Contest Passes to compete in the Hoenn, Kanto, and Sinnoh regions.  In the Kanto Contests, Jessie disguised herself as Jessebella (Japanese: ãƒ ã‚µã�´ã‚‡ã‚“ Musa-pyon) wearing a red dress and glasses. Eventually, Ash, Brock, Max and May found out her true identity in the last Contest.   Although Jessie entered mostly every Contest in Hoenn and Kanto, she lost in all of them, whether it was the first match of the Battle Rounds or the finals. However, in the Sinnoh region, she won three Ribbons herself using her Dustox, Yanmega and Seviper, and obtained a Ribbon after James won a Contest in her place, as well as receiving one from Princess Salvia after she lost to her. Jessie was then eligible to participate in the Sinnoh Grand Festival, and made it to the semi-finals, losing to Dawn. After her loss to Dawn, Jessie got furious as her dream of becoming Top Coordinator was destroyed, but regardless, she told Dawn that since she beat her, she wouldn't forgive her if Dawn didn't end up as Top Coordinator for as long as she lived, thus showing that Jessie was rooting for Dawn, despite the two being enemies. When Dawn then lost in the finals to Zoey, Jessie was furious and decided she was through with contests. She then discarded her Jessilina costume before storming away. None of the main characters ever learned that Jessie and Jessilina were the same person.  She's also used other aliases to disguise herself under, such as Jessilinda during her time at the Pokémon Summer Academy and Jessilynlyn while competing in the Pokémon Ping Pong Tournament. Musashi

Giovanni is the Team Rocket Boss and a former Viridian City Gym Leader. He is a very ambitious man and is intolerant of failure. Giovanni is shown to have access to vast wealth and resources. The money probably comes from Team Rocket's main source of income — the profit of selling stolen Pokémon. Giovanni also gains a lot of money from smuggling Pokémon, Pokéball trafficking, and other crime rackets. He has Team Rocket operations in both Kanto and Johto. He rarely meets people in person, as he prefers to communicate with his underlings via telecommunications.   (Source: Wikipedia)

After participating in the Johto League, Ash decides to begin anew in yet another journey; this time by himself and Pikachu, in the land of Hoenn. Though he isn't alone for long, as 10-year-old May (whom dislikes Pokemon, but just wants to come along to see the world) travels with him after Pikachu destroys her bicycle. Ash also meets up with his old companion, Brock, and May's younger brother, Max. Together, they travel along in Hoenn, battling Gym Leaders, entering Contests, and other events on the way to the Hoenn League.
