Jounouchi is Yuugi's best friend. At the beginning Jounouchi used to bully Yuugi; however, after being saved by Yuugi from an even more of a dangerous thug, Jounouchi has been pals with Yuugi ever since. Jounouchi likes to hang around with Yuugi and learns a lot of new games. He is not always confident that he will win his games, but he always tries his best.  He enters the Duelist Kingdom Tournament to get money for his sister, Shizuka, who is losing her eyesight. He wants to use the money for her surgery.

Birthday: October 25 Height: 186 cm Weight: 65 kg Blood type: A  Seto Kaiba is the majority shareholder and President of his own multi-national company, KaibaCorp, who aims to become the world's greatest player of the Duel Monsters card game. To accomplish this goal, he must defeat his arch-rival, Yugi Muto. He is largely considered an anti-hero, as his motives are usually ego-centric, but in several cases towards a good cause.  Among one of the recurring plots in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters is Seto Kaiba being forced to deal with either people adversely affected by Gozaburo Kaiba's actions wanting to take their revenge on Seto Kaiba, or people from within KaibaCorp attempting to take over the corporation.

Birthday: June 4 Blood type: AB  Yuugi Mutou is the main protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. At the start of the series, he is a shy boy who is really short for his age, something he always gets teased about in school. For this reason, he was always alone. However, his grandfather gives him the Millennium Puzzle prior to the story's time line and Yuugi is told that if he solved it, one wish of his could be granted. He manages to solve the Millennium Puzzle and he asks for friends and his wish is immediately granted. He also awakens the spirit residing in the Puzzle, but Yuugi is not aware of this until much later in the story.  When Yuugi does become aware, he and the spirit become very close, with him calling the spirit "Mou Hitori No Boku"—The Other Me—and the spirit calling him "Aibou'—Partner. Yugi then becomes a vessel for the spirit and he is told that his duty is to help the spirit find his lost memories. With the help of his friends, he helps the Pharaoh regain his memories while overcoming the most difficult of situations.  Yuugi is mostly seen living with his grandfather, since his parents are mostly on business trips. His mother, Ashita, makes a very brief appearance in the beginning of the second season, when Yuugi argues with the spirit. Yuugi is also very gifted as a duelist with the Duel Monsters card game, thanks to the expertise and upbringing of his grandfather.   Yuugi's deck, throughout the series, was really his grandfather's, since his grandfather gave him his deck in episode 1 to battle Seto Kaiba. However, in the last season—Pharaoh's Memory—he uses his own deck, which contains magicians, spell-casters, and machines.  Yuugi is also seen as a "Ladies' Man" in the series, according to the KCGP filler. However, from the beginning, it has been obvious that he has a crush on Anzu Mazaki, his childhood friend.  Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Yuugi Mutou makes several apperances in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. He is first seen as a grown adult in the first episode, whom Judai Yuki runs into on his way to the entrance exam at Duel Academy. Yuugi then hands him Winged Kuriboh and walks away. There are also several mentions of him throughout the series.  In the final episodes, 179–180, he appears again to Judai Yuki, telling him that he has come to help Judai regain what he had lost in the last couple of years, which was the ability to have fun while having a duel. The older Yuugi then helps Judai Yuki reach a time period in between Battle City and Doma Arc. A completely different Yuugi runs into him and he is challenged to a duel, which he readily accepts. Yuugi then notices Judai's strong magical powers as does the spirit, so he lets the spirit take over the duel. Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie - Ultra Fusion! Bonds Over Time and Space! Yuugi is one the main characters in this 10th Anniversary special of Yu-Gi-Oh! He, along with Judai Yuki of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yusei Fudou of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, battle Paradox in order to save Duel Monsters and the existence of time itself. In one of the 5D's openings, it is shown that Yuugi had lost his grandfather's life during one of Paradox's assaults on his time frame and he is extremely distressed over the fact.

Yuugi Mutou

Yami Yugi is the spirit of the ancient Pharaoh residing in the Milennium Puzzle. His past is shrouded in mystery.  3,000 (5,000 in the dub) years later, Yugi Mutou, after trying to solve the puzzle for eight years, awakens the Pharaoh from his slumber, although Yugi does not realize this until much later in the story.  At the end of Duelist Kingdom, the Pharoah asks Yugi to help him recover his memories and Yugi agrees to help him.  Battle City In Battle City, Yami discovers who he was in the past: He was a Pharaoh ruling in Ancient Egypt, according to Ishizu. In order to find out about his past as a whole, he must gain the three Egyptian God cards - Osiris (Slifer the Sky Dragon), God of Obelisk (Obelisk the Tormentor), and Sun God Ra (The Winged Dragon of Ra) during the Battle City tournament. Along the way, he runs into Noah, who has a grudge against the Kaiba brothers, and various pawns of Marik, his enemy in Battle City.  After Jounouchi collapses after his duel with Marik, or rather, his dark self, in the finals at Alcatraz Tower, Yami finds an even stronger incentive to duel him, but has to go through Seto Kaiba first. As expected, he defeats Kaiba and goes on to duel Marik, defeating him after an intense battle. Doma Arc In the Doma arc, things become more emotional for Yami. After he had failed to go into the Memory World due to the God cards 'not responding', he finds that all the Duel Monsters have been turned into real life monsters. In his duel against Grimo, he finds out about the Seal of Orichalcos and its effect to take the soul of the loser of the duel. Unfortunately, after his duel with Grimo, his god cards are stolen by Raphael, Amelda, and Varon, people who work under Dartz's command. Dartz seems to be the new enemy of Yami's.  In his duel with Raphael, Yami is shocked to find the Seal of Orichalcos in his hand after he and Raphael exchanged cards due to a magic card's effect. In a desparate pinch, he activates the card, despite Yugi's protests, and is under complete control. However, Raphael manages to defeat him. But before Yami's soul could be taken, Yugi pushes him out of the way and his soul is taken instead, leaving Yami in a somewhat depressed state. However, Jounouchi quickly snaps him out of it by the form of a punch in the face, shocking everyone very much. Dawn of the Duel After a historic battle against Zorc Necrophadius, he had sealed his soul along with Zorc in order to save Egypt. He had lost his memory as a result.  His real name is revealed to be Atem at the conclusion of the arc.

Yami Yuugi

Another one of Yugi's friends. Honda used to bully Yugi with Jounouchi. He never understood Yugi's fashination with games but he was able to understand the feelings of others. Honda always helps Jounouchi or Yugi when they are in need. He's a friend to the end.

Tristan Taylor

Anzu is the childhood friend of Yugi Mutou. She becomes a good friend to Katsuya Jonouchi and Hiroto Honda, though she is not fond of them at first. In the first series anime, Miho Nosaka is also one of Anzu's friends. Anzu does not usually play games with Yugi and his friends, though she is once shown beating Jonouchi. In the manga, especially in the beginning, Anzu has a spunky, tomboyish personality, and in the first chapter, frightens Honda and Jonouchi into leaving the room after they bully Yugi. Anzu possesses a very kind-hearted, strong-willed, and supportive personality. In the Duel Monsters anime, she and Honda, are basically cheerleaders for Yugi and Jonouchi whenever they duel, but she has proven herself adept at dueling as well, and usually keeps up with the going-ons of a duel. She is more feminine, polite, and has a stronger sense of faith and friendship for her group of friends, often serving as the mother/sister figure for the boys. She is known among fans of the Duel Monsters English anime for her "friendship speeches."  Anzu is athletic and holds jobs to save money in order to attend a dance school in New York City. In the beginning of the series, she is revealed to be working at "Burger World". By Volume 4 in the manga, Anzu is fired from that job for punching a customer who had pinched her buttocks. She gets a job at KaibaCorp afterwards and encounters her friends at KaibaLand. In the Toei anime, Anzu, Honda, and Miho work at Burger World, with Miho and Honda working to support Anzu. Once Burger World closes, Honda and Miho work for a beef bowl restaurant. In the opening scenes of the 1999 film Yugi and his friends discover that she works at "Duel Monsters Center," a Duel Monsters parlor. She already knows ShÅ�go Aoyama, a regular of the parlor and Yugi's neighbor.  While responding to a fan mail asking him why Yugi and Anzu are not in a romantic relationship, Takahashi stated that the relationship between Anzu and both Yugis is "pretty much a love triangle." He added that Yugi and Anzu "always" act in a "very careful" manner in front of one another, so they cannot admit their feelings for one another. Anzu's first Deck is a Fairy Deck. It focuses on Light-Attribute Fairy monsters, and spells to enhance them. Her second Deck is a Spellcaster Deck. Almost all the cards are devoted to the Spellcaster theme, like Fire Sorcerer, Maha Vailo and the Dark Magician Girl because of her one-sided love with both Yugis. She duels once in the manga and three times during the course of the second anime series.
